Words shape the world. Words can describe, name and capture. Words can help us grasp a meaning or a feeling. Words can also create relationships, influence others, and grant us ownership. Our words are like pieces of clothing, available to be pulled from the closet and tried on and used as we need them. In Row Houses, I utilize the materials gleaned from a discarded coat to explore the possessive capabilities of words and to examine how relationships between person and place are contingent within language.
